Can a middle-aged, gay man win his stoic father's love
by proving he's made something of his life?
Welcome to Flaming Match!  It's 2007 and Chip and Mick have the idea of a lifetime.
...and now, it's 2024.
After many "brilliantly" inspired business ventures, most never reaching any true level of success, Chip and Mick find themselves faced with yet another failed business, the harsh reality of being middle-age and the seemingly real prospect (for Chip anyway) of never becoming the man he hoped to be.  Flaming Match is the tale of Chip’s quest to find some success at last, with his partner Mick wisecracking beside him all the way. Did any of the couples from their long-ago dating site find true love, or did they all… flame out?  Follow this romantic comedy across the decades.  Weaving together original and new footage from the one business venture, an online dating service called "FlamingMatch.com," that might just validate Chip's existence after all.
This original screenplay, by award-winning short film director and writer Alan Natale, explores the perils of the LGBTQIA+ online dating world, but with a twist: what if two misbegotten serial entrepreneurs want to follow up on one of their earlier projects from 17 years ago.  Was this one long-ago "Big Idea" their only success?  Or has their real achievement been there all along?
For Flaming Match, writer/director Alan Natale had the unique idea of revisiting an old project and seeing if he could "get the band back together," so to speak. Not as a sequel, but as a whole new work, weaving past and present together.  He reached out to Brent McEwan (the Chip to his Mick) and they started exploring the idea of this "where are they now?" kind of story.  After finishing the script, Alan reached out to all the remaining original actors to see if they'd be interested in reprising their roles, and they all said yes!  The result is and will be (after we get this filmed) a fun filled, sometimes poignant romp through the many forms love and perceived success can take.
